Our American peers have just introduced a plan to ensure no one pays taxes until their basic cost of living is covered, and make the mega-rich pay for it! If the Carney government wants to fund tax cuts for the lowest income earners, they should tax the rich, not cut vital services.

Our tax code values money over sweat. It values already being rich over earning a paycheck. It values unproductive and even extractive investment more than actually working for a living. Until that changes, the tax code will guarantee wealth inequality in this country grows.

Who does Doug Ford want to cut taxes for? Massive corporations that are price gouging consumers? Rich investors already getting a sweetheart deal? Instead, why don't we fight tax havens and tax the ultra-rich and make investments that actually help working Canadians.

Our members built wealth relying on a healthy, educated, and housed workforce and consumer base, high quality infrastructure, and a stable environment. They've benefited most from those investments. Taxes are how they should be paying it back!

If we want better healthcare, better schools, better infrastructure, to fight climate change, to support housing initiatives, and to protect our sovereignty and democracy, we need to tax the rich.
