That’s why, just like in wartime, we’ll be offering tax credits to catalyse private sector investment. It’s like Keynes said, you can only afford it if corporations can realize a market-beating return.

As wealth concentrates, so does power — the power to influence elections, shape policy, tilt markets and define the terms of public debate. Taxing billionaires is not radical. What is radical is allowing a system where extreme wealth exists alongside widespread hardship.

Cutting the gas tax is just a subsidy to corporate profiteering unless we impose an excess profit tax.

Mark Carney is given a lot of undeserved respect because he is an economist.

Think about what we’ve been told is too radical or impossible: universal voting rights, 8 hour work day, minimum wage, universal health care, marriage equality…. Be realistic. Demand the impossible.

This is a death sentence for many, many people.

Mark Carney subscribes to a debunked economic ideology. It is producing bad economic policies that he claims are novel but are just the same thing: cuts to public service, handouts to corporations and the ultra-wealthy, massive defence spending. It’s austerity plus military Keynesianism.

The Carney government brings us destruction. A full-frontal assault on Indigenous peoples, the integrity of the tax collection system, foreign aid, and, apparently, the country's rail system, among many other things.

Trying to shrink government has never produced the claimed benefits.
