Take a look at the new Webster Avenue Bridge in Manhasset—safe, modern, and climate-resilient. Our team recently completed work to replace the 128-year-old bridge, installing catch basins and a new drainage system, as well as rebuilt the adjacent roadway, sidewalks, and retaining walls.

Miracle on the Whitestone! Around 4 p.m. on Monday, members of the MTAPD Highway Unit, Sgt. Joseph Casale and Officer Eric Li, were flagged down by a motorist whose wife was in labor on the side of the bridge roadway. They helped deliver a healthy baby girl!

Northern Boulevard station is now fully accessible! 🛗 The M/R subway station in Woodside now has two new elevators, improved staircases, accessible boarding areas, and curb improvements outside the station.

We’ve been hard at work on the new Jamaica Bus Depot! Everything from waterproofing the roof, installing the façade, building stairwells, and preparing to pour the concrete floors.

The Staten Island Railway fleet is now entirely made up of standard R211 subway cars! R211S trains feature wider doors, security cameras, digital screens, and additional accessibility features. They are a critical part of our ongoing modernization efforts systemwide.

LIRR service may shut down as early as September 18 if railroad unions go on strike. Avoid nonessential travel and work from home, if possible. If you cannot telecommute, the MTA will provide limited shuttle bus service between certain LIRR stations to transfer points in Queens.

Congestion pricing is working — and the cameras are staying on.

ADA accessibility is about more than just elevators. In some cases, it’s not about elevators at all. At Harlem-148 St on the 3 line, we found a way to make the station accessible with a ramp. Ramps offer a few benefits like needing little maintenance and often being relatively easy to build.

For two weekends in August, we shut down the 4/5/6 lines through Manhattan that carry over a million people per day. During the outage, our primary purpose was track and switch replacement, but we took the opportunity to make as many repairs as we could.

Last summer, we shut down the G line to begin replacing century-old signals with state-of-the-art Communications-Based Train Control technology. But that work isn’t quite done yet. We just finished another round of weekend outages to facilitate the transition to CBTC.

Today, MTA Bridges and Tunnels and regional law enforcement partners performed the 100th enforcement operation focused on removing “ghost cars" from NY roadways. These efforts have resulted in 5,300+ vehicles being impounded for suspended registrations and fraudulent, obstructed, or altered plates.

The next phase of the Second Avenue Subway is moving forward! Today, the MTA Board approved a tunnel-boring contract for the project, which will expand transit access in East Harlem. The new tunnel will stretch from 116th to 125th streets.

For generations, East Harlem has been promised a new subway, but leaders failed to get it done. The time for promises is over. The time for building is here. Today, the Second Avenue Subway extension is officially moving forward!
