At most stations, all trains will stop at the front of the platform in the direction of travel, regardless of the platform length. This means you'll always be able to board and exit in the same spot, leading to a more consistent boarding experience for all customers.

This weekend's winter storm brought plenty of snow to the region, but through it all, we kept New York moving—thanks to the thousands of MTA employees across New York City Transit, Metro-North Railroad, Long Island Rail Road, Access-A-Ride, and Bridges and Tunnels.

We’re grateful for the hard work and dedication of our employees who worked around the clock to keep train service running safely across our service region during this weekend’s winter storm.

Starting January 4, 2026, reduced-fare tickets will be accepted on all trains, including during morning peak hours. We're also expanding the eligibility of family fare tickets for children up to 17 years old. That means more flexibility to travel when it works best for you, without paying more.
