The problem with Sandfall believably starting to use genAI images as placeholders in E33, backing off, and missing the replacement of one is that everyone else using it didn't learn "we need to not do this this," they learned "we just need to not get caught and can claim it's a placeholder if we do"

This defense only KINDA worked once and it was for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, who were experimenting with AI when it was brand new and the effects were less understood, and Sandfall came out with an anti-AI stance afterwards. The window for this to be acceptable is firmly shut.
