You draw a comic at least three times. Thumbnails to plan the panel layout and page count, sketches for writing, planning & text placement, inking. Then if you're nasty you can do the extra step of coloring/shading. (This is unless you're French and go straight to inks, the French are not real)

today has felt vaguely ridiculous, since the moment i woke up i've been doing one chore after another. everything is clean, beautiful, and put away, but i still feel like i wasted my time

and beyond the jokes about grrm not knowing what ages mean - some of my favorite pov chapters are from the stark children and dany and how they understand & negotiate a world that is incredibly hostile and new to them compared to their adult pov counterparts. what they miss, and what only they see

lrt - thistle isn’t a protag, but the exhausting age discourse reveals a lot about if the person arguing thinks a child’s pov is worthwhile, if only a character who has reached their 18th birthday according to the holy guide book could have relatable or serious thoughts and actions.

fascinating to me how people negotiate the age of the main character(s) of a work with the intended audience, and how it relates to 1) whether those mcs are processed as people or characters 2) how seriously we take the perspective of a child

with delgal, thistle has the sway that a parent has over their child…it isn’t that exact relationship of course, it’s much more tangled and confused. but it draws from a similar emotional core as obeying when mother tells you to do something. a feeling of ‘thistle knows best’

thistle is straight-up giving delgal orders here LOL i love it. blunt tone, no honorifics, expecting to be obeyed. and he is!

thistle + the kingdom’s vague unexplained religion…in the end the lion deity that thistle didn’t believe in is used by the demon to tear him down to consume until there’s nothing left. notable that religious visions are the motivator for delgal & yaad finally moving against thistle…
