Leather titles should be fun. It's a silly crown for a day and the positive impact that extends from it is meaningful, but we've got to take it all a little less seriously, it's putting people off giving it a go. I want my friends to all have a go at our title, a moment to be their best selves.

Titleholding sometimes (often...) ends up being about titleholding instead of being about Leather, and this is really the core of why so many of us have a "complex" relationship with it in general and a hostile relationship with those who see it as a direct pathway to leadership.

I feel like far too often people in the title end of the leather community get caught up thinking leather is about nonprofits and board meetings and speeches about leadership. It's not that those things can't be leather or do good. But they sure as hell aren't the heart of it.

The "old guard" of leather isn't even a historical movement, it's an idea thought up after the fact, and anybody who would be from that era is gone, so if you're going around telling people you're from the old guard, particularly to put others down, you're telling me you're talking out your ass.
