It’s been a great weekend getaway, but it’s time to go home, after taking advantage of another part of my Diamond status: pole parking position.

I was so happy with the hotel where I'm staying this weekend that I forgot to post anything about it. Also, the wi-fi in the suite only works in the parlor, not the bedroom. First time a hotel has ever had my name on a board welcoming guests from their frequent-stay program.

Off for a little mini-vacation to Fallon. Not quite a “staycation,” but I’m looking forward to it.

Long ago (1988-1993), I worked for Blue Shield of California. Their HQ was in these two buildings: 2 North Point and 1 Beach. They long since relocated to Oakland.

Good thing I’m not in a rush. I had the address as 725 Montgomery St. It’s actually 1725! I have loads of time, although it’s a pretty steep walk.

I don’t recall ever being this close to either of these places before

Landed. De-icing took awhile to knock the frost off of the plane, then we had an ATC ground hold, but we’re here. My appointment is at 12:45, so I have plenty of time to get into the City.

Boarding for SFO. Glad I have a face mask because my allergies to my medication are acting up and I don’t want to make my neighbors nervous.

At the gate. I thought I might check with the agent to confirm that the possible mismatch between my name and appearance wouldn’t be an issue, but there’s nobody here yet. Small airport; they are probably working other flights.

Fed and caffeinated at Timber Ridge restaurant at RNO. Boarding in about 40 minutes.

Through Terrorization. Had to show passport because it’s the only ID that matches the name on my ticket, but the agent only cared that the names matched. No issues otherwise. @cherylmorgan.bsky.social

Yay, breakfast!

Yesterday, a little girl asked me who that was on the pin. I said, “Well, it’s me, sort of.”

Errands in Reno done, including the one for @cherylmorgan.bsky.social but mainly getting more firewood. Minivan now much heavier and I am very tired.

It’s-9 C outside, so I re-attached the collar to my heavier coat to walk the three blocks to my local restaurant. Even with gloves, my fingers felt like ice by the time I got there. Breakfast was great, though.

Lots of awful news out there (I hope my Day Jobbe doesn’t decide they want me at their North Carolina HQ, as that state has declared my existence illegal) but there are nice developments personally and locally in Nevada, including finally having one of my credit cards in my right name.
