While in Bowness-on-Windermere, Kelly was pointing out all the different kinds of birds over the weekend: gulls, jackdaws, crows, etc. The mountain girl knows her stuff. Karl: “Wow… what’s that white bird all puffed up. Never seen anything like that.” Kelly: “That’s a pigeon. It’s just white.”

Today is the birthday of Harvey Kurtzman (Oct. 3, 1924-Feb. 21, 1993). He wrote, edited, & drew stories for Two-Fisted Tales & Frontline Combat for EC. The creator of the comic that became Mad magazine, he was editor from 1952-1956, & wrote Little Annie Fanny for Playboy from 1962-1988.

Back in Denver and trying to catch up on things. Caught last night’s sunset over 13th Ave.

Kelly & I went on some bar safari in Denver, visiting Forest Room Five, a place both of us were unfamiliar with. It was literally quite different than most bars we find ourselves in. The bar patio is a small forest grove (with a creek.)

Last night. The unofficial end of summer. Kelly and I (along with friends) had a small picnic and watched the final big tango event in 2025. Couple spinning and dancing at the Cheesman Park Pavilion just as the sun set over the Rockies. A brilliant night.

K and I were able to raise a glass to Jeffrey Bernard at the Coach and Horses in Soho.

Kelly pets all the dogs, either outside the pub, inside a train, or in a pub…

It’s been an incredibly long but brilliant weekend exhibiting at @comicartfestival.bsky.social Saw a hell of a lot of people, friends, & new friends. The festival just ended, K & I are both quite tired, and it’s now time for a come down pint at the pub. Next expo is in November (and also in the UK)

After being up for 26 hrs (and still going), 19 hours of travel, 4600 miles, traveling by car, plane, three trains, and a very informative cab driver… K & I finally made it Bowness-on-Windermere for @comicartfestival.bsky.social . The first order was to find the oldest pub in town. Success!

This weekend! I’ll be at the @comicartfestival.bsky.social (LICAF… I’ve just been calling it LAKES) in Bowness-on-Windermere, Lake District, UK. Table 28! This is my first time at this show & Kelly has never been in the Lake District. So, this will be a bit of an adventure for both of us.

Last day and still exhibiting at @cartooncrossroads.bsky.social ! Have plenty of comics about cities, architecture, and a manic black cat. Also, some limited colors if that is your thing. Come on by. I’m nice.

Worshiping at the Alter of Comics! The new books on display here went on sale from Sept. 1971 to Nov. 1971, according to the Mike's Newsstand database. So I would've been the same age as the kid here. I bought almost all of these as the were released. 1971 was a great year for comics, man.

I decided to attempt to learn French. Been about three months now and I’m still in “just learning the basics” phase. I thought translating my own comics may help. My friend Maia (who is fluent) helped me a lot. The first two issues of IN THE CITY ( La ville ne lâchera jamais) are complete.
