Lol at Metro Transit sending an ABRT bus (that has no fare machine) to for Blue Line replacement service, and putting a team of Trip Agents asking people if they paid their fare (which they can't, because there's no fare machine). Just stupendous communication and coordination here.

An announcement about the UPCOMING blue line shut down being immediately followed by an announcement that the blue line is shut down is not giving me a lot of faith in Metro Transit's ability to actually pull this off.

You can't strike a pluralistic bargain with people who reject pluralism. You just can't. The only thing you can do is fucking hurt them until they decide that the pluralistic bargain is better than the alternative.

I really hate debating the associations of terms because everyone attaches their own meaning to the term and and then when one person uses it the other lays all their assumptions on it and suddenly none of these words communicate any meaning anymore.

Notably, Minnesota took heavy heavy casualties in that battle. It wasn't just capture the flag, many Minnesotans died fighting off the Confederates in that battle. When we say we're never fucking giving it back, it's history written in our blood. Pete's drunken ass

As someone with adequate charging at home for my EV, the price of electricity at a public fast charger doesn't really bother me. It's like complaining about the price of a soda at the airport because I compared it to the grocery store. That's not the point! I'm traveling, it's worth it!

there's this obvious looming problem where LLMs can probably wipe out a lot of the entry level jobs in development and engineering in the near future, and then there's no way for people in these fields to get started, which means the mid level gets wiped out next

I love when a packaged food has multiple servings and has nutrition facts per serving but also calls out the nutrition facts of the entire box. Like, yeah, we know what you are you little piece of shit, just eat the whole fucking package why don't you.

That is what Independence Day is. Not the celebration of a country already fully formed, already perfect and unchangable, or grand for its strength, but for those people who rejected tyranny; and their resolute and steely determination that a government hostile to liberty would be defeated.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home. Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.
