It's hard finding time to draw on location with 2 kids, so I took a few ref pics while visiting the Jersey Shore and then drew them later with the new acrylic markers I got for my birthday. Here are a few scenes from my July. It's been so nice visiting home, and even more so, sketching it. 😊

who painted the watercolor blobs. This one is a loose interpretation of a flame angelfish. Their real life silhouette is smaller, tho.

Hey all, my husband
@kevinonthelam.bsky.social
found out that he’s going to be laid off next month. 🥺He’s a Staff Character Animator who has been working on The Outer Worlds 2. We’d greatly appreciate any leads that you have, because times are expensive and we have two little boys. 🙏 Thank you!

: Day 1 I was an inspired by an artist who did
#blobtober
where they drew over watercolor blobs. But, my first go at it was pretty bad. My son said, "Don't call your drawing bad because others have called it good. And if you worked so hard on it, other people will call it good." 🥹

If you're still thinking to yourself: I've got *plenty* of time to play the Ambrosia Sky demo, well, you're not... technically wrong. BUT that time will go by fast, and this will (let's pretend) be our last reminder, so this is your sign!

look, I don’t have much positive to say about jobs right now. but growing your creative skills is never a waste. in a world that prioritizes “good enough for non-experts” and the simulacra of competence, growing a practice of critical and artistic thought helps you from sliding down into the muck.

Making art looks a little different now as a mother of 2. As the parenting adage goes: 1/2 the work done in 2x the amount of time. Then, out of the corner of my eye, past my desk, my older son is drawing with me, and I'm suddenly feeling less guilty about all my unfinished drawings.

It's been a while since I've done this, and the world is bleak - so we can all use a little art & creativity. What is everyone creating nowadays? Games, art, music, video, writing, anything - whether it is early, almost done, or just shipped. Feel free to include trailers, images, links - whatever.

This GDC was a perfect demonstration of what I've been feeling for a long time--the industry won't save us. The executives won't save us. So we have to put the work in to save each other, because the only way any of us are making it through this is together. And this week that community was there.

Anybody positing that the problem with the games industry is that devs are too expensive is gonna get an instant block. For the cost of one EA CEO you could afford 213 devs making $120k apiece. Read the room, my dudes; a LOT of very skilled people are out of work right now. Profits are trickling up
