If you take anything away from Alysa it shouldn’t be to try less or act too cool for school. It should be to find something you love, want, and believe in and channel your energy to the best of your abilities into that and accept failure and discomfort as part of the road to get there.

This is the correct take! I’ve seen a lot of ppl suggest the message is “don’t try too hard and just have fun🤪.” That’s not the point and def not how you become an Olympian. The point is to embrace and own your struggle and channel it towards something YOU love. And don’t let people control YOUR art

But the truth is, we need both. We need people in spaces of power who can spy & meddle and we need people who can promote progressive causes openly. Taylor shields the artists around her so that they can speak openly while Taylor is working quietly in spaces solely billionaires have access to.

Agreed, and it’s a lot easier to break and manipulate systems from within than outside. Tons of wealthy women throughout history have utilized their access to powerful men and spaces to gather information, to quietly help progressive causes, & to sabotage harmful actions.
