I think the misinformation has been largely cleared up (the creator who “reported” it took the video down with an apology, other involved parties have provided info, and there seems to be a healthy convo about how to read legal documents), but just in case!

Spoke with Surena, checked in, and I’m only going to say a few things. (Even if she did say I can let the chopper sing) The only reason I’m saying anything is because while everyone wants to step away “until they have all the facts”, that didn’t stop many people from spreading the lies via texts.

I can't decide if I am more furious… or disgusted… or just really disappointed and disillusioned by some of the people in my industry.

This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.

Oh, hello new followers! I think a lot of you might be from @hamishsteele.bsky.social’s kind repost. I was in the writers room for #DeadEndParanormalPark! I “killed” Barney twice, put Zagan and Norma in a Twilight fantasy, made a nonbinary ghost, and wrote Pugsley’s sad doggy song!

One thing I’m seeing on Bluesky that I really like already is the messaging to not dunk quote-tweet here. It’s something I think was a real problem, or at least a symptom of a larger problem, on Twitter.

I’m thinking of reposting some of my old tweets over here before I delete them, but every time I reread anything I’ve ever written I want to disappear into a hole. It’s like hearing your own voice on a recording. Ugh

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie. An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough. So finish the thing.

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

Honor the strike and don't play the games. This is a horrid attempt to turn people against the strikers, but all anyone wants is fair pay!

I’m not in the habit of doing alt text and forgot, but I just turned on this feature to remind me for next time!
