One of my hopes/wishes for 2026 is the end of the AI scam.

Humans. We used to solve problems by being clever and thoughtful. Now we outsource our creative thinking to trash LLMs.

If only lawyers had some kind of guidelines, or, I don't know, ethical rules to help us do the right thing... LLMs are a scourge in the law right now. No end in sight.

Am I a fool for thinking we can still fight back? That this isn't how it all ends?

Study after study shows that using LLMs is bad for cognition, bad for learning, bad for understanding, bad for mental health. So why are our schools and universities still relentlessly pushing them?

Federal Judges— or staff, but same-same— used "AI" to summarize & draft rulings, issued them w/o checking the work, leading to basic factual errors, & thus undermining the facticity & validity of the rulings entire. Gee. Who Could Have Foreseen. *stares directly into the camera like in the office*

At some point it has to become clear that this tech exists is to create a more toxic society and enrich its owners. These uses are not aberrations but rather the entire purpose.

tl;dr 1. Studies of genAI in the classroom show that it harms learning 2. The quality of AI-generated text is irrelevant to its most negative effects on teaching 3. The way AI has entered the classroom is as a money-making project extracting new labour, not a “tool” serving teachers’ actual needs

During bar prep, my colleagues and I are experts in doctrinal topics, study and test-taking skills, therapists, parents, doctors, character and fitness counselors, and we hold a tremendous amount of anxiety for our grads. Also, we are tired. Be kind to your 12-month faculty!

Learning to sat "no" is only a tiny part of the needed reform. Continuing to frame societal problems as being solvable if only the oppressed individuals would take more personal responsibility is wrong. We do need org level reforms!

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

The NCBE's Marilyn Wellington just stated that they have NO information on how this exam will impact different racial groups. But they "will be studying that." They have had decades to study previous exams and haven't done it yet! This is beyond a huge concern!!!! #NextGen #barexam
