As the backlash to generative AI in video games continues to pick up steam heading into 2026, it'll be fascinating to see what methods games journalists with no ethics will use to belittle concerns about use of AI, like implying Word docs & finance spreadsheets are somehow relevant to a game.

The Blue Prince situation is a really good example of the ongoing breakdown in the games journalism editorial process, ie a properly managed Escapist would have killed the pitch immediately after the writer revealed a lack of proof in the claim

On the unfounded allegations by The Escapist that Blue Prince was made with AI, a rare Steam forums win and a dev response confirming no AI was used steamcommunity.com/app/1569580/...

I knew The Escapist had declined but holy shit. This has all the reactionary hits, calling the Indie Game Awards enforcing their own rules 'performative' while writing and publishing this performative outrage. Accusing Blue Prince of using AI is, near I can tell, not sourced anywhere.

This schedule will mean not only fewer childhood vaccines, but fewer children.
