My current writing project is the first one that hasn't required a ton of worldbuilding/outlining/research before I could start. Turns out discovery writing is extremely fun. I might actually be able to stick to my goal of sticking to a single project for an extended amount of time

Today’s going to be the biggest protest in MN yet against ICE. It is also the coldest day of the year by a significant margin with windchill going below -30F. I wish my friends and fellow Minnesotans standing up to all this bullshit warmth and safety today.

I never seem to do well with new year's resolutions/goals, but I'd like to get good at a particular speedrun this year. I jump between games so much that I end up just being mediocre at all of them, so I'd like to buckle down and focus on one. This applies to my writing projects as well honestly

If I had a nickel for everytime while GMing Pathfinder that, after questionable positioning from the party's rogue, an aquatic monster dragged him underwater to be eaten while the rest of the party helplessly watched, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

The CatEx Expo Expo will be taking place over at twitch.tv/pokemonspeedrunstv next Saturday, October 4th! The Expo shows off some of the various Category Extensions runs that have been picked by the community to be focused on and ran in previous months. Tune in for some unique runs!

I've played ~20 hours across a handful of monthly playtests with some friends while the game was under NDA, and it's a ton of fun. Easily the most I've enjoyed a battle royale game. (I have so many keys if any friends want to check it out)

Playing games with friends is probably my favorite thing, so it means so much that no matter which of the almost dozen games I brought to the table over the week, everyone was invested and ready to learn

Been enjoying custom starter runs for BDSP except for the fact that I've been crit by four Ice Fangs in three Wake fights. We had to double check it wasn't a high crit rate move

Treating a writing project as a book instead of a web serial is so nice. It lets me leave a mediocre scene alone with the knowledge that I can go back and fix it later in edits. Compared to before where I would have to deal with it immediately, or else be forced to post it and have it be bad forever

In the next week I've got two boardgame nights, a big speedrun race, and Pathfinder. Getting all my socializing in now before the simultaneous release of Stormlight 5 and Path of Exile 2 causes me to vanish off the face of the earth.

No clue how some stay consistently motivated to write. Just finished off a chapter that I'm really proud of, so I figured I'd maintain that excitement and keep going with the story. Nope. Instead, all my motivation is dead. Opened 4 docs this weekend and couldn't make progress on any of them

Curious if airplane mode or the fact that I'm not running on a release Switch anymore saved more time. (Also Eternatus sucks)

Turns out I spent 352 hours speedrunning in 2023, and that's only counting when Livesplit was running. Adding in routing, watching streams, and organizational things, I think it's safe to say that speedrunning (specifically PSR) has been the most important part of my 2023
