Also, I wish I could tell you the stories of the families being helped here, but it's not safe. But trust that they are experiencing the full range of life's struggles - poverty, despair, death, illness - all while being confined to their homes in a place where they have ZERO formal supports.

I guess one other (non-specific) story: one reason need expands over time is that immigrant families are extremely ashamed to admit they need help. They'll ask for the bare minimum they can justify, or nothing at all, and risk being evicted instead. It's horrifying because WE PUT THEM IN THIS SPOT.

But those authorities are more narrow and process-intensive, so he has lost the ability to just rapidly slap tariffs on any country on a day's notice
