Perhaps too niche a question, but - is there an edition of Mimesis by Erich Auerbach that translates the shorter Latin passages he quotes/refers to? The large passages are translated, but when he quotes them again for more close reading, they aren't translated & so I can't engage w/ his arguments.

I am about 20% into Piranisi and really struggling with it. Just not remotely interested or engaged and every page is a trial 😭 Should I persist? So many people call this book a masterpiece and I want to get it. What am I missing? If I don’t like it by now should I assume it’s not for me?

Some authors make you a better writer. They energize lobes of your brain. For me, @riverssolomon.bsky.social is one of those writers. MODEL HOME is disturbing and exquisite. And as someone whose family integrated an all-white neighborhood when I was young, it truly hit home. Chilling and smart.
