Sometimes I wonder if our many years of jokes about writers hating writing and doing anything but writing, etc, have convinced people that the writing part is the hurdle and the goal is just to have a thing in hand. But I am here to tell you: the writing is the best part. The act is the thing.

Proud to say I knocked out everything on my extensive Admin Week to do list, and can now spend my childfree Friday reading books and gazing into my husband's eyes. 👀

One thing I highly recommend for full time authors with the hyperfocus-brand of ADHD is to schedule an "admin week" between drafts. It gives me a week of buffer if drafting goes to hell, and it also gives me a week to tackle the boring things I didn't have the executive function for earlier.

I don't want to watch a fucking video. I don't want the only instructions of how to do something to be in video format. I don't want my social media to be a bunch of videos. I should not have to bring headphones (or annoy everyone) to doom scroll on the train. GIVE ME TEXT.

I'm about two-ish weeks away from finishing the third book in this cozy fantasy series about a dragon shifter traveling the country searching for more of his kind. Book 1 arrives on retailers on Sept 30, and 2 and 3 arrive in Oct and Nov!

I do think there is some natural talent, not just for storytelling, but the stick-to-it-ive nature to not just complete something, but also to know that it needs improvements. But growing and honing that skill is equally as important.

Nothing has delighted me more this summer than finally jettisoning my picky reading habits and turning back into a voracious reader. I read *11* books in July. And *9* so far in August. (This doesn't include reading my books for edits, either)

I get a little impatient when readers complain about anachronisms in a made up fantasy world. It is a made up fantasy world, not some time in the past in planet Earth's history. The whole point of a fantasy world is that anything the author says is possible is therefore possible. 🤷‍♂️
