fyi images of Shanhai jing available today were drawn in the 16-17th century. Here is a fun fact, some of them are far different from the original description. This is 2. Qu-ru (a duck with a human face), but it’s obviously a pheasant with a bird face. So it’s ok to ignore some prompt text imo.

More foraging adventures - the white oak near me was masting, so I picked some acorns and made acorn jelly. Also, did you know that acorn weevil larva is delicious???

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.
