Today, in Utah, homeowners *or renters* can simply buy a solar panel at Costco, take it home, and plug it in to a wall socket, like an appliance. It just sits there & trims about 15-20% off a residential power bill. If you move to another apt., you can take it with you.

Remember, govt has advice that it can’t repeal the local act providing for Ngai Tahu representation on Canta RC by a govt bill without some dodgy suspension of SOs etc. So, instead, it looks like ACT is going to tear down the institutions itself making the local act moot.

I’m not doing Black Friday this year. I’d rather be honest with you than try to compete with big brands. Every purchase genuinely makes a difference to my tiny business. Shop independent this Christmas.

Mike Hosking is wrong about the results of the UK Covid Inquiry this morning. The inquiry found an earlier lockdown could have saved 23k lives. It did find that "stringent restrictions short of a mandatory lockdown" if imposed earlier could have avoided a lockdown – which is diff from "unnecessary".

What could go wrong? I can think of some things and I’m not versed in building law. Is this more of the government’s seen-to-be-doing nonsense that will never happen? Or a time-bomb like leaky buildings?

The youngs don’t understand that Aotearoa in the 1960s-70s was shaped by Sunday afternoons watching a World War 2 film about the Luftwaffe/RAF/war in the Pacific/US marines on the single-channel TV. Or ‘going for a drive’ to explore new suburbs/the country. Or gatherings with 1000 cousins
