Great question! Aspiration pneumonia usually involves mouth flora (streptococci, Fusobacterium, Peptostreptococcus), not typically Pseudomonas or resistant GNRs. Gram neg concerns arise if lower GI contents are aspirated, but CTX covers gram neg like Klebsiella if needed so we're covered here ☺️

Not all aspirations need Abx ☺️ aspiration pneumonitis resolves in 24-48h; if symptoms persist >48h, treat aspiration pneumonia with CTX CTX covers key oral anaerobes (eg Peptostreptococcus) so extended anaerobe coverage is usually unnecessary avoid piptaz first-line & reserve for resistant cases

First, some background: psychosis is a syndrome of hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thought. Chronic symptoms are diagnosed as schizophrenia. Antipsychotic medications are not always effective and often cause intolerable side effects. Talk to anyone who takes them - we need better treatment.
