The first sign that food will be important to my wip should be the fact that the characters are named after foods 🤣 And if that's not enough, I even include recipes! Many members of the cast show their love through food (whether making it, eating it, growing it, or providing a space for meals)

Intellectual disability in my books: The Living Waters and Wings so Soft have intellectually disabled side characters. They both play important roles in the plot that are not related to their disability. They both need support to live, but they also support those around them.

Snappy first lines are well and good but by no means essential. Immersing the reader directly into a scene without an opening zinger is a perfectly lovely way to open a book as well.

Many such cases. In my current wip, there are lots of mini-assholes who cause problems for a few chapters, but the main antagonist is ultimately "capitalism"

#WIPSnips Early on when Aubergine is fairly new to the gang, at one point he tells Shallot about a prank Grilled is planning. Shallot thinks it would be better if Grilled and Aubergine with buddies, not enemies, so she encourages him not to be a snitch.

*writing* I don't know how to end this scene, LOL. So you know what? I'm not going to worry about it. Just gonna move on to the next scene, and I'll finish it later. Fretting over how to best finish a scene has paused me in my tracks more often than I care to admit. Now I know to move on and come
