Because I love The Boys and work on Jenny’s new podcast, I feel it’s important to share that I saw her right after she recorded this episode and she spent several minutes talking about how this was the most fun she had ever had. That really made me happy.

I am serious as the grave, this is Scorsese’s best movie. All three leads should’ve won an Oscar, Marty & the script & the film too, and if they’d decided “maybe we’ve seen the best film & we’re done here?” and just drew a line under the whole Oscars thing right there, I wouldn’t argue.

I will never zoom in on a political cartoon, I simply don’t care that they’ve labeled the toaster like Dow Jones & the toast says The Economy & there’s some workers falling out of a butter tub & the knife says Minimum Wage held by a huge shadowy guy labeled Big Business OR WHATEVER.

The only thing keeping me from reading another 100 pages of this book is that it’s physically arduous to wield haha, it is such a heavy object that there is a shoulder/neck/head/eye limit to ingesting it. This is all appropriate for Tom’s Crossing by the way, no one talks to the dead for free.

Before we even parked the car I spotted the complete Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes DVD box set in the Little Free Library. It is now safely out of the rain, wrapped in a blanket, with a bowl of milk.

I got Mark Z Danielewski’s absolutely massive new book Tom’s Crossing (it is alarmingly heavy), have crushed 100 pages in a few hours. It’s gripping, drifty, detailed, conversational, a neo-Western, keeps promising unspeakable horrors to come, has a Stephen King 👍🏼 on the back. I’m so on board.
