When I left school, sickened of Shakespeare, Fitzgerald and Graham Greene (you had to read them!), I read what most teenagers read - Catch 22, On The Road, Vonnegut, Camus, Kafka etc. How did I miss Brautigan? This book makes me feel nineteen years old again. Blinding, poetic, surreal, hilarious.
