Played some Alpha Strike tonight. Opponent had to take out the VIPs in my convoy. The targets were denoted by shuffled playing cards under the alpha strike cards, so neither of us knew which vehicles they were in until he got in close and scanned them. Made for some explosive action! #battletech

Oh I guess I should qualify this. I worked on a UE5 game from 2024-2026, and we were initially using all its cool new features like Lumen and Nanite. We had to cut them out for performance reasons, and IMO we should've reverted to D3D11 for a broader market and to fix all those PSO compile stalls.

The video codec issue with Linux caused me a bit of whiplash because I forget that a lot of people coding games nowadays don't touch or really understand memory and so they couldn't throw together a really rough video encoder-decoder in pinch or even just integrate an existing library with H.264.
