I think what people really need to understand as growing fears of trade wars causing food shortages increase, is that growing produce is good but that isn't a community solution. It's hard to wrap your head around the scale to grow meaningful calories for a neighborhood, let alone a community.

The general response to pragmatic approaches to addressing the failures of our economic system comes from the general argument that anything less than complete revolution is rebranded liberalism and is doomed to fail. I hate to break it to you, nothing is permanent, good or bad.

I think a real problem with a lot of discourse on the left is that our solutions are philosophical. There's nothing wrong with having a philosophy that guides are thinking, but the problem is that there's a fixed wall between this philosophy and how it applies OUTSIDE of our niche space.
