For the first time ever, I'm debating if I still want to be a teacher. I was feeling a lot of guilt around applying for a PhD and leaving the field for a time. But now I don't know if I'll come back.

Whenever I realize a lesson I planned isn‘t long enough I start explaining Twilight to 11 year olds. There’s at least 15 minutes of cushion in there.

Feeling a little salty that I could be at SDCC right now with a free press badge, but because I got fired from my job (and got a new job that pays a lot less), I'm sitting on the floor teaching summer school to make up for lost income.

Big shout out to past Abby who decided to write but never finish a bunch of Gravity Falls essays that could easily copied and pasted. Current Abby is now roughly 35% done with her book.

I’ve been doing interviews for my book, people say they have nothing important to add. But then they share one small thing and it opens up perspectives I hadn’t considered. A big theme coming out of this is how we enrich the lives of others. I’m feeling very blessed to have this opportunity.

Planning on going to #SCMS26 for the first time-- but my brain is so fried I can't think of anything I'd like to present. Does anyone have ideas for panels or round tables? My primary areas are education and fan fiction, but I like opportunities to learn new things.

13 years ago, I knew this thing would change my life. But if you told me that change would look like writing a whole book I would have thought you were joking. It’s been an honor to talk to Alex, Jason, Ariel, and (soon) Rob. But it’s also been a privilege to connect with so many fans. #gravityfalls

There’s a lot of things I wish I could say, but out of moral obligation I won’t. So instead I present this meme with no context.

As I've been writing this book, I've been hugely blessed to talk to some of the team behind Gravity Falls. That being said, I feel like a stalker going online and hunting down these folks for a still-functioning email.

Speaking of other fun things I did last week: I took a pilgrimage to the Double R Diner + scenic shots from #TwinPeaks. I wrote a message in the memorial scrapbook for David Lynch about his influence. Since I’ve been writing this book on #GravityFalls I truly felt as if I were on sacred ground.

Going to the MOPOP last week was a life-confirming experience. I spend so much time trying to bring my careers in fanstudies and education together that to be in a space curated for learning through pop culture felt surreal.

Two of them are now aware that I have their private contact information... meaning I emailed them about interviewing for my book.

Watching #AbbottElementary hurts given my current circumstances. I want to live in this fantasy where school staff stick up for each other despite the consequences. Why can’t I have that? 😭
