Liquid Glass was definitely an influence but I think we pulled off something that is significantly better. Specially in hindsight. Liquid Glass has been a disaster.

Even tailwind devs can benefit from this devtools extension! We can’t magically make Tailwind a better experience, but we can at least help debug it a bit better.

AI isn’t the reason to stop building new frameworks. It’s the reason to build many new frameworks and try ideas that would be considered bad for devX or too verbose in the past. I’ve had near perfect results trying all sorts of non-mainstream tools.

i really don't care about using AI to ship more stuff it's really hard to come up with stuff worth shipping i want to ship the same amount of stuff with higher quality both in product and code

Truer words haven’t been said. Also sho king to me that more languages don’t have alternative syntax options. Think Reason for OCaml, Coffeescript for JS (even if I hated that syntax). Where’s the rust but descriptive words instead of inscrutable symbols for everything? Also, aliases.

if syntax truly doesn't matter... then why not give the people what they want? since it doesn't matter anyway

compiler people love to complain that users only care about syntax... but syntax is the primary affordance that users use to interact with your tool! of course it's massively important what that syntax is!

The react part is …ok. I mean it’s just XML which looks nice to compose stuff. But that tailwind classes pattern is pretty stupid. Just ask for normal props and stop calling it “className”. Eesh.

I miss this from Flow all the time. Typescript is such a big downgrade for this reason alone. And I hate it the most because the type system could support it easily, but JSX has shitty typedefs.

The web component APIs are some of the worst web APIs added within the last decade. Sharp edges. Surprising behaviour. You can tell them were rushed. Maybe I’ll write an article with a list of changes I think could make them usable without significant downsides.

There is nothing in React itself that prevents using normal radio inputs. The problem is Radix-UI which for better or worse became a standard because of shadcn. Worth checking what react-aria and base-UI are doing. —- Also, maybe have an open mind and consider the div soup may exist for a reason

remember how before ai you had all these ideas you kinda would get started on but lose steam quickly and then move onto something else ai isn't fixing this, it's pushing you even deeper into this cycle

“We use Rollup to bundle…” Only the source moved to ESM. They continue to ship a standalone file for script tags. And you can now import using ESM if you use NPM. It’s not a big ESM in the browser thing.

I tried to use the same trick for a swipe-able sidebar and its actually pretty annoying on iOS (haven’t tested Android) The main problem is that it is far too easy to accidentally open the sidebar when you’re trying to just scroll down. Is there a solution for that problem @una.im ?
