I’ve said this before on other socials but it’s interesting that Johnny Cash had a reputation as a very genial (if occasionally serious) entertainer throughout much of his career but Rick Rubin, in doing the American albums with him, made it so that his posthumous reputation was darker/more brooding
add a skeleton here at some point
