Please please please can we make it a thing to have PDF versions of journal articles without header/footer information on every page - i.e., website URL, date downloaded, etc - because it is BEYOND ANNOYING when your screen reader reads all of that out. Completely takes you out of the argument flow.

Yesterday I completely week 5 out of 7 of an intensive physiotherapy rehabilitation programme... safe to say I'm absolutely exhausted, but hopefully this will mean I'm strong enough for my big move in 2(!) weeks.

I've had to take a break from my own academic projects due to flare-ups of health problems, so it's nice to hear about other projects in the wider field. Hopefully I'll come away with some new ideas for reading/thinking that I can put to use when I return to my own research.

There is an academic book that I need in order to work on some of the reviewer comments on a paper. I no longer have institutional library access as I'm inbetween PhD and postdoc at the moment. I managed to find one website where I could purchase it as an ePub...

We see similar in academic philosophy - arguments that are deployed for no reason than as an intellectual exercise, losing sight of the fact that the matters at hand have urgent moral importance.

I am once again begging academic publishers to make books available in PDF. While some provide eBooks, these tend to be accessible only on proprietary e-readers, which are incompatible with screen-readers and other accessibility software 🫤 Sincerely, a very eye-strained vision impaired researcher.

Revising a paper without institutional access is going to be really difficult. There's many resources I need that I simply cannot access. I will be aligned with an institution again soon when I start my postdoc (in a few months), but the journal editor wants the revised version before that. Advice?
