I'm genuinely amazed by the response to my post below about Cavendish. For anyone interested, I'm currently reading an excellent biography about her called Pure Wit. It's by Francesca Peacock.

Last night me and my partner watched the 2025 version of War of the Worlds. My god it was bad. I laughed so much at said badness that I've added it to my list of so bad it's good movies which include gems such as Zombeavers and Sharknado.

I'm teaching Margaret Cavendish today and it is great fun being able to talk about an author's epistemology, metaphysics, AND her fiction in the very same seminar.

Queers assemble! For it is almost the most sacred of days: Practical Magic rewatch day.

Today: a lecture and a seminar on social contract theory, office hours, a research talk by a new colleague, attempting to replace my blood with tea.

A little 🦀 update.

I think I've trapped a nerve in my back. Is there anyway to make it go away bar waiting it out with painkillers? I've tried all sorts of stretches to no avail.

Slowly but surely more and more pumpkins are appearing outside of my neighbour's front door. It began with one small pumpkin. Now there are five. The latest one to appear is the size of a human head. Will I come home to more pumpkins? Will their flat just become one big pumpkin? AM I A PUMPKIN?

Me and my partner are half convinced the jolly looking pumpkin toy we bought a few years ago is cursed. Each time we moved him in our old Dublin flat a leak appeared. We had three leaks; upstairs shower, toilet, a pipe. I briefly moved him around in our new flat and OUR SINK HAS SPRUNG A LEAK.

New office plant friends! What should I name them? I was thinking of Cyril Citrus for the lemon tree (that's right, left to my own devices after teaching yesterday I did indeed buy a whole entire tree). I've no idea what to call the flat cactus. Maybe Bob?

One lecture on deontological ethics complete. One seminar on the same topic, and then office hours, to go! I have purhcased god's own food (a vegan sausage roll) for philosophy fuel.

I've just drunk an absolutely cracking cup of tea.

Does anyone else feel irrationallly angry when you type in your email and one of the words auto-corrects to having a capital letter? This is my new weekly annoyance when using Powerpoint to edit my lecture slides.
