It's morbidly funny to me that FFXIV 1.0 was so aggressively poorly-designed that every single thing about the game that's annoying or overly-complicated can be traced back to something too baked into the code to remove

I saw an old Reddit post about FFXIV where the guy complained that turning off the buff that makes you capable of soloing story battles made the battles too hard and was asking for solutions, and never once answered the question "why are you turning off the buff?"
