finished Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson a few days back, the second attempt at tackling The Malazan Book of the Fallen. i was not ready for this series at 18 fucking hell is it good. confusing, incomprehensibly big yet the most unique fantasy world i’ve ever had to delight to read onto book 3

2025 was pretty good. i have a hard time focusing on the good bits but adding them all up i’ve quite liked inhabiting that year

reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and i cant help but feel that while it’s trying to showcase a dying culture and celebrate African history, it just ends up being a book that desperately wants the adoration of the western world which imo makes the whole thing a bit dishonest.

this book is giving me immeasurable relief from some dull narrative non-fiction im slogging through at the moment. star trek, glass people, iris wildthyme and twenty questions. cant ask for more than that

i still have no idea what im supposed to be reading for my course which starts in 2 WEEKS!!! i thought it had to do david copperfield but nah not until after Christmas apparently so thats just a massive waste of time. i’m imagining the MA creative writing office is like this atm
