This is a good take! I like to tell people that investigative journalism is way more boring and tedious than they assume.

As I have said to friends many times, the crises of the 21st century (GWOT, financial crises, etc) simply don’t add up in a material sense to the level of crazy and authoritarianism we are seeing today. Internet and social media are a much better root cause explanation.
