Hi. Quick update: Friday, I went to the Dr for severe abdominal pain. Referred to ER, who confirmed a tear in my intestines and transferred me to ucsf for surgery. Will probably be here a few more days. In related news, apparently I'm responding well to my new treatment! Fingers crossed?

0 for 2. "Stable" in one place, but apparently there are new areas, and... that's scary to hear. They have other trials, and I think traditional treatment is still on the table. Going to meet with my standard oncologist and form a plan, if there is one. I want to live.

I've had so many but permit me another weak moment. Trial med is hard on me, and meds to help have wrecked my stomach. For 3w, I've barely ate or slept; I'm uncomfy all the time. I'm miserable. Exhausted. Supposed to have another cycle of the trial med today and I don't know if I can keep this up.

In 2012, I had a day off and decided it might be fun to visit the dogs at the humane society. There were a ton of dogs excited to see a friendly face but, as I came up to one of the stalls, I saw this puppy with a black band around her eyes and ears bigger than her head. I fell in love. (1/12)

There is someone in this waiting room whose phone is playing at full volume and they can't decide what they want to listen to -- I'm hearing 15s snippets of all kinds of music and different sound effects and I am getting ready to defenestrate them.

In happier news: I've had a new singing teacher for a bit. Haven't had lessons recently b/c.. *vague gesture* But she's amazing. For the first time in years, I feel like I'm actually learning. I think she believes in me too! ..because I just found a 3wk old email from her w/song ideas. Oops, lol.

It didn't work -- for anyone. They're closing the trial. The cancer is spreading. They want me to do another trial. "Don't lose hope," they said. "We have options." I'm numb.

Tomorrow (today), I learn whether the trial drug is doing what they hoped. I'm scared.

A few years ago, a friend of mine and I found a recipe for mac and cheese muffins. Food aside, we thought the ending frame of the video was hilarious. I made it my email's profile picture and forgot about it. Until I'm sending an email for professional reasons. A great first impression, certainly.

Got some bad news from my doctor: my CA-125 is going up again. She's going to enroll me in a clinical trial before having me start chemotherapy. I'm just... I'm trying so hard, you know? And it's all amounting to nothing.

Back at my old stomping grounds -- UCSF's infusion center, for a blood transfusion. I'm okay; hemoglobin levels are just low. I'm weirdly nervous though, lol.

Another update! My regular oncologist messaged me to basically say those two 'concerns' were actually non-issues. So, uh.. Good news?! Good news. I'm so relieved. 😭

Good news: the radiation seems to have worked. Bad news: the scan showed 2 nodules in my lungs (4mm, 2mm). Too small to know if they're cancerous, so I'll be having a follow up scan in 2-3 months. As you can imagine, I'm less than thrilled. But.. time to try to forget for a few weeks. lol. lmao.

Scan on Friday and then a meeting on April 7 to discuss how everything is looking. Honestly, this waiting period has been the hardest. Not knowing anything and not being able to take any sort of meaningful action in the meantime is driving me up the wall. But at least there are plans on the books.

Spent today at UCSF getting a clip implanted to track the tumor. Since I had to have some anesthesia today, I wasn't able to eat until ~4p, so Dylan took me for dinner after I was discharged. <3 I think my planning scans will be next week? They haven't been scheduled yet. But hopefully soon!
