I have discovered the Ninja + Brawler combo in Final Fantasy Tactics, this is definitely activating the good FF Job system brain chemicals

Every single time I try to look up some tips for a strategy RPG is a mistake, whether it's Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, Valkyria Chronicles or what have you, because the only people answering in those reddit/forum threads are true sickos (complimentary, mostly) that broke the game decades ago

First up, we have a Phantasy Star IV interview from 1993, from the World of Phantasy Star book (which has somehow remained untranslated all these years). There are some interesting comments on how the characters were created, and IV's relationship to II and III.

It feels like Chapter 1 of Final Fantasy Tactics is giving me some of the worst dice rolls I've ever had with a SRPG. Oops, Wiegraf evaded all of your magic. Oops, Northwain's Strike did 54 damage and then a secret additional insta-kill. Oops, Auto-Potion triggered 0 times. Oops, Raise missed.

Pluto is, simply, one of the very best anime of the past several years and the English dub is excellent.

I've started Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles, so now I can finally figure out if the PS1 original wiping the floor with me ~25 years ago was mostly because I was a middle schooler with no clue how SRPGs or the FF Job system worked, or if I'm just an incurable fool.

Decided to do one of those video game grid thingies. Shout out to Ghost Trick, Xenoblade Chronicles, Octopath Traveler II, Breath of the Wild, Final Fantasy V, Super Mario Bros 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Link's Awakening, which I could've slid into a number of categories.

Decided to jump straight into a Zelda 1 replay right after finishing my umpteenth Link's Awakening replay, and the original game still kicks ass!

I started replaying the Link's Awakening remake and, man, I forgot just how gorgeous this game is!

Spent the day alternating between marvelling at both Artemis II and the Witch Hat Atelier adaptation, and trying not to lose my damn mind over our violent idiot president & his collection of ghouls once again threatening to recklessly escalate their ongoing project to murder countless people.

Maybe it's cheesy, but listening to/watching "Three Wishes" during the Grand Festival was one of the most emotional moments I've ever had with a game and its music.

I'm still happily plugging away at Pokopia ~50 hours after rolling credits, gradually building new homes, roads, bridges and habitats, setting up electrical grids, imprisoning Mr. Mime, etc., but I still don't know even know where to begin with fixing up the Skylands, that place is such a mess.

I still really like Octopath Traveler 0 on the whole, but I'm also kinda just ready for it to be over and what do you mean I have 7 chapters left of this final storyline?!

I have an uncanny knack in Pokopia for always missing an incredibly common material I need (rope vines, twine, iron ore, etc.) and that I have hundreds of in storage in 2 other areas. I will also, somehow, never fast travel to either of those locations on my first attempt to find them.

[Nintendo Switch 2 System Update] Version 22.0.0 adds "Handheld Mode Boost". This will make Switch 1 games think that they are in TV mode even when in handheld. Games can run at higher resolutions in TV mode, taking better advantage of the Switch 2's 1080p screen.

I tried to stay strong and hold off on getting Pokémon Pokopia until I was slightly less broke, but alas, I yearn for the mines.

Now that I'm well into the "Bestower of..." questlines (wrapped up Fame over the weekend), I think the reviewers and players that suggested sticking with Octopath Traveler 0 through the "Master of All" questline were correct.

Rolled credits on the final ending of The Mermaid's Curse last night, and I think I like this entry even more than the first Paranormasight? Regardless, I hope Square-Enix will allow this team to keep making these great little supernatural mysteries for as long as they want.

Most of the footage of the famous 2000 "Super Mario 128" tech demo was recorded with handheld cameras by the audience, with the presenter drowning out the game sound. Only 10 seconds of direct feed footage exist, which reveal that the sound was a cacophony of Marios screaming.
