Added an animation/sequencer system that temporarily hands the entire game state over to a script so it can go in and manipulate objects positions and states. It's linked in with both the cutscene system and used for some game events, testing here with the player saved from falling into a hazard;

Bit more work needed before it's really a complete game, but this is coming together nicely. I massively sped the line code up, actually surprised it can hit 30fps with all these things littering the stage without having to use any assembly. #sgdk #gamedev

good morning friends, I just got pushable blocks working

textbox render test! I've mentioned this thing a few times as it's taken an age to get working right, it does pixel-level positioning, proportional fonts, all sorts of stuff. I'll publish the source to this bit standalone once I've got all the features in and made a good font for it...

Presenting the most inoffensive and genteel of raster water effects, thanks to Shannon Birt for clearing up some confusion I was having about how horizontal interrupts work. Now water exists, we can... fish

The code and LUTs needed for that globe effect need more space than just baking a few sprites offline, hrm.

So mayyybe it's possible to render in 4 colors, it takes 20% more cpu but two palettes of 16 colors are then free for sprites and background #SGDK #SegaMegadrive

Somehow missed a new release of Dethrace, a reverse-engineered port of Carmageddon, two weeks ago. github.com/dethrace-lab... Right now it doesn't offer any enhancements beyond unlocked framerate, but the game seems to run perfectly fine in software rendered 640x480.

Testing out very large enemies with this Shantae boss, should be possible to animate it too. Foreground supplied by a sprite as the two BG layers are fully occupied, if you line em up right you can completely fill a scanline with sprite data, pro-tip.

More Scaling and Rotation fun on the Megadrive !! This is the service/menu screen for my game Lufthoheit. The 68k processor is software scaling the image in the X direction and the VDP helps to stretch the image vertically. The 68k processor is doing the rotation on the asteroids also .

If anyone in the Megadrive/Genesis ~ SGDK/Homebrew/adjacent world needs some controller graphics, feel free to pilfer these that I made, I don't think they're half bad - Take, use, modify to your needs, etc.
