Policing protests must always keep people safe whilst respecting people's freedom of expression. I asked police leaders from across England whether restriction can ever be put in place on non-violent, non-criminal protests that are still intimidating nonetheless. Here's what they said:

I spoke at Mahsten Hate Crime Awareness Programme - sharing what I've been doing to tackle hate crimes. These sessions are brilliant at improving our understanding of hate crime and how to support people who have been subjected to hate - they are exactly what we need to strengthen community bonds.🤝

These are just a few of the many things that have been said directly to me or about me since I wrote my letter about Rupert Lowe last week. This isn't normal. We need to unite against the far-right in our country and fight back against racism. Our message is hope and it will defeat hate.

I know many constituents are worried about the lack of communication on how to stay safe due to the smoke from the moorland fire. That's why yesterday I wrote to GMCA to ask them to share advice more widely with the public as the fire continues to burn and our air quality gets worse.

It's vital that the government makes sure everyone is fully informed with the ongoing climate catastrophe. That's why I joined constituents in Hulme to watch the People's Emergency Briefing - and why I want it to be broadcast at prime time too.📺️

I will not support the Immigration and Asylum Bill. I know my constituents feel strongly about this. I welcome the creation of safe and legal routes, but these changes put vulnerable people in an uncertain state, undermine the independence of judges, and weaken our commitment to international law.

Horrified to learn of yet another planned attack on Muslims in Britain. Thankfully it was prevented. How many more stories will we read before the dangers Muslims are facing is properly recognised? The far-right are risking lives and we need serious action against it.

Earlier this week I attended the Justice Select Committee as assess the affects of changes on human rights. Any changes must respect human rights and put them first - always.

We used to take our human rights as given. Now they're being attacked across the world. That's why I hosted human rights leaders in Parliament to discuss how we can fight back and protect fundamental human rights - both here and globally.🌍️⚖️

Today marks the 31th years since the Srebrenica genocide where over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were murdered. We must acknowledge the persecution of Muslims globally, if we are to learn from this horrific event and ensure it never happens again.

The UK has always played a vital role across the world in securing stability.🌍️ That's why I hosted a trilateral meeting in Parliament between the Somalia and Turkiye so we can work together to provide security in Somalia and the wider region.

I want to thank @andyburnham.bsky.social for apologising for Labour’s initial response to the horrific conflict in Gaza. We've made huge steps - sanctioning members of the Israeli Government and recognising the state of Palestine. But we need to move quicker and do more.

Rupert Lowe has been on the Joe Rogan Experience to push Islamophobic lies claiming the UK has parallel Sharia courts to the UK judicial system. He knows this isn't true. I've written to the Standards Commissioner to ask him to investigate Rupert's conduct.

Today’s findings in the Timms Review’s interim report are a welcome step forwards. From conversations I’ve had with constituents on PIP, I am confident that we can find the right path forward towards a system that put people’s respect, happiness, and independence first.

Great to meet with the British Muslim Trust and key stakeholders across GM to discuss what more can be done here in Manchester to tackle anti-Muslim hostility, following the Labour Government's definition earlier this year.☪️

I’m finding increasing delays from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in responding to important casework from my constituents. I’ve written to Pat McFadden, DWP Secretary, asking him to look into this so I can support my constituents effectively and efficiently with their problems.

Changes to the asylum system must respect human rights. That's why today I've been to the Justice Select Committee as a representative of the Joint Committee on Human Rights to ask questions about the upcoming asylum changes - making sure that any changes are always putting human rights first.

Nigel has run off scared because he knew that his corruption had finally caught up with him. He can't pretend to be a man of the people whilst taking £5 million from billionaires and getting help from a convicted fraudster. This stunt is just distraction from his abuse of power and his shady money.

Over 1,200 people die each year in Greater Manchester because of polluted air. That's why it was so important to meet with @asthmaandlunguk to hear the launch of their OUR AIR, OUR VOICES report and learn more about how I can help them to reduce health inequalities and save lives.

70 years ago today the first Clean Air Act was passed.🌤️ I'm proud of the progress we've made and I'll always champion clean air action in Parliament and in Manchester. I will continue to fight to make our air safe, reduce health inequalities, and save lives.

We are continuing to support Palestinians in Gaza to study in the UK. We will also evacuate critically ill children so they can get treatment from the NHS. I met students we've helped to speak to them about their studies. I'm proud to bring students to Britain so that they can rebuild their lives.

Hulme Community Garden Centre is a wonderful space for communities to get together. They're also now working to expand opportunities for young people in the horticultural space - widening access to gardening for people across my constituency!🌳🌸
