My church held a training to teach people how to observe ICE safely and respond in a legal way. Now some are calling for its nonprofit status to be stripped. This is ridiculous - our democracy thrives when people are able to hold our government accountable and exercise their free speech.

It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.

Why are we pretending there are only two ways to think? The letter behind our names on the ballot shouldn't be defining factor in how we lead. What's good for our families shouldn't be a "Democrat" or "Republican" idea - it's an Iowa idea.
