I had a wonderful day today! Had my anatomy ultrasound and we are having a GIRL! She will be the 6th grandchild on my parents side and the only girl. I am on cloud ten billion! Had a big ugly snotty cry from the sheer joy of the news. I can't wait to meet her. 😭

I think people think that art taking a long time to learn means like a month or maybe a year and not an ever expanding process that progresses with you the entirety of your time drawing. You don't "finish" getting good at art because that's not the freaking point.

I also think one of the biggest life skills you can have is how to be bad at something. Like, the idea that you are going to try something and not succeed at what you intended. You're gonna try to draw a cat and it might look like shit, but if you stop trying to draw them then you will NEVER improve

I used to do a lot of personal ink work. I'd love to find the energy and motivation to do so again in the future. It's a super fun medium to work in!

I think everyone should practice and learn a skill that serves no other purpose than to bring you joy. Learn pottery, paint miniatures, become a woodworker, sew a quilt, tend to a garden, care for an exotic frog, learn to juggle, practice weightlifting. There are a million things to do in this life!

Done with my retail job. Today was my last day and now I can just focus on my family and my artwork. The relief I feel is immense. It was exhausting.

My son (almost 2) was just examining my hand and saw my knuckles. Asked me what they were so I told him "knuckles." He repeated the word and then paused before looking at his own hands, clearly wondering to himself "do I have knuckles too?" Bro is so smart. I LOVE watching him figure shit out.

A commission I finished up recently!

I think it's criminal that dark chocolate has a monopoly on the sea salt flavor combo for chocolate. My favorite chocolate bar is milk chocolate with sea salt and it is DELIGHTFUL. But most of the time sea salt is used with dark chocolate. I just love my mild milky chocolates..... so good.....

pregnancy 2: electric boogaloo I'm tired

Unsolicited opinion that I know I have brought up before but I am realizing I am actually really passionate about: I want more peanut butter flavored things, especially ice cream, that are JUST peanut butter. Stop putting chocolate with it. Chocolate gets to be solo, so why can't peanut butter?!

I do not wish to feel tired and cynical and pessimistic. It's not the kind of person I want to be.
