I am leisurely making my way through Ursula Le Guin’s “Always Coming Home” and I came across a poem I just have to share. The ending especially slaps.

Today marks 68 years since the day spacecraft Sputnik 2 carried Moscow street dog Laika, also known as Kudryavka, into Earth orbit, where she died. I had the opportunity to draw this fridge magnet marker portrait of her. You didn't ask to go, nor deserved what happened. Rest in peace, first dog.
