If you don't understand that a design document is a communication tool that needs to be carefully crafted & refined to ensure it's understood, then you can't decide whether a machine can do it better or not. Designers know their teams and how to communicate with them. That's part of the skillset.

Yesterday we watched "The Wild Robot" Holy moly, what an absolutely incredible movie. Beautiful, charming, touching on so many levels. Really good and moving story (which I believe hits you much harder when you're a parent). Score is tremendous, theme song is just perfect. Absolute must-see.

If you’re in the games business, and somehow (as often happens) your company somehow is now focused on something else (AI, XR, “IP,” acquisitions, etc.) you’re in for a period of struggle. Everyone will wonder what’s wrong. But you know. It’s about games. Gameplay.

Playing "Harmonies" by Johan Benvenuto. Absolutely brilliant game, charming art, lightweight yet deep and engaging. Pattern maching is really easy to pick up, a great entry for any level of play. Stackable tiles are so fun and nice to place. Overall, an amazing experience.

Something to consider: generally speaking, most indie devs (especially adventure game devs) work for free. We don’t see a profit until the game comes out and sells. If we’re lucky enough to get funding during development, that money is then owed as recoup to whoever is doing the funding. (1/3)

People generally don't quite understand this yet but the impact of these layoffs from 2022 through today, even if they stop now to return to 2021 levels, are going to impact the games industry and games themselves as a medium for well over a decade. We've guaranteed games will be worse for years.

The MS layoffs taint the brand so hard. Cancelled games, closed studios. Next time Xbox Studio announces a new game, why would anyone get excited if it has a high chance of being cancelled? Why would anyone want to work there, risking relocation followed up by being fired? It's mind-boggling.

I seriously don't know how this industry is going to recover. People make games. I'm so sorry friends. 💔

With how many layoffs we’ve had over the past several years, remote work should be the default. Requiring relocation at this point is unreasonable for the risk that we’re just going to get laid off two months, six months, a year in.

I don't even know how to comment on this. It's depressing and enfuriating. It's a failure on so many levels. Breaking people' lives and careers, the impact of it will be felt for years to come. My heart goes out to all of those affected.

I have played and finished this game three times, on three different platforms. It's a a remarkable audio-visual experience and a fantastic game. Its worth every penny. Go get it.
