Okinawa had its hottest September at 1.6C above the average. I filmed this mass coral bleaching last year, but didn't have the heart to share. Total annihilation of the first few meters of depth. This stuff happens before our eyes, and yet people who think it isn't real keep gaining power.

A spectacular "cold wake" is evident along former-hurricane Erin's track. This is a normal feature caused by strong winds upwelling/mixing cooler water from below. Erin was not only very intense but also very large, which also helps with the upwelling. The water temperatures will gradually recover.

Tropical update: Atlantic Nina is still going strong, while Nino3.4 is now subject to instability wave-induced cold anomalies. This is not a typical La Nina-like case since there is no significant increase in upwelling of equatorial Pacific thermocline water in this case. 🌊🧪🤔
