Couldn’t have made this better. Contributions by

,
@manilazic.bsky.social
,
@horrornonna.com
and Daniel Bird’s essential making of documentary. I’ve intro’d screenings of this film urging it’s a deeply political, philosophical film not just some gonzo oddity & the doc proves it.

As some have already noticed, Trump's latest official portrait bears a striking resemblance to the aesthetic of
#AIslop
. In particular, his shirt and tie display an otherworldly glow and an almost painterly smoothness. To me, this is further evidence of how integral AI has become to Trump's brand 1/

In this first episode, we come up with the name of the podcast on the spot, and go on to discuss two differently delightful French films, both of which stand out from the usual French output for being set in the countryside: Alain Guiraudie’s MISERICORDIA and Louise Courvoisier’s HOLY COW.

HOLY COW is refreshing for refusing to "psychologise" its characters. They're not overdetermined, they feel human. A generous approach that also comes through in the way Louise Courvoisier talks here about power dynamics on set & her responsibility in representing sex. She's wise because she cares!
