Liverpool to Warrington first along the Mersey Way a tranquil path that hugs the river for much of the way. Bird calls punctuated by the occasional holiday jet taking off from the airport and then a Hawk fighter jet swooped past with a roar.

Meet a Sea Slater. On the pomenade on the outskirts of Liverpool. Rather resembles a trilobite. I didn't knkw they were a thing until this one crossed my path today.

Leeds and Liverpool canal. The end of this waterway. 15 miles Having stayed at a childhood friends overnight, together we went with her little dog to where I left off last night. Together we followed the canal to where it begins (or starts).

Wigan to Bootle on the Leeds and Liverpool canal. 32 miles. Up early and out a little after 7. A big hike day today. Tomorrow Im walking with a friend and her small dog. His little legs can't go that far, so I made up the miles today.

More later but after a 32 mile walk today (😴) , I've almost finished the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Fifth rail operator of this trip.

Half a River Loddon. Last August a friend and I followed the River Loddon, from dry stream bed in Basingstoke to close to Mortimer, in Berkshire where we left it a full fledged small river. Today, being it was time to trace the rest of the river up to the Thames. /1

We have had reports of wind damage from varying locations across West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. These reports range in timing from around 21:00-22:00. /1

Uh oh. The Rasselbock Sherwood Pines Back Yard Ultra has been suspended due to a sudden windstorm bringing down trees and tents tonight.

The Broomway is known as Britain's deadliest path due to the number of people who have drowned trying to traverse it in the past. Rapid tides, Soft sand, mud and unexploded ordnance await the unwary traveller. It's also the only way by foot to Foulness Island, so we had to walk it.

Railway ticket madness. Again. I have a long distance train journey in a couple of weeks. The price varies hugely depending on how you buy the ticket. Train operator: £103.70 Trainline: £92.80 Me splitting it by where I change: £38.20 Madness.

Today has been mostly eating, sorting kit, cleaning out chickens and using inappropriate surfaces to help me stand up. Loved the lower carbon, welcoming to all, ethos of the Camino ultra team yesterday.

Fast I am not. But I desperately wanted a sub 6 50km. I went out too fast, messed up fluids and nutrition totally. Did stop to help a fallen runner. I had around 15 miles of totally grinding it out. That was not how to run an ultra. However, I did it. Just! 😭😁 #LeaValleyUltra. #RiverLea

I've walked almost 1000 miles of the #EnglandCoastPath so far. I love it. But it simply isn't true that you can walk to the coast, turn left or right and walk beside the sea for as long as you like. Landowners prevent access to so many miles of it.

This came up on my memories: I had to run an alternative sol half marathon 6 years ago cos it was March 2020 and obvs I couldn't run the local organised one. I was not expecting to see a pale morph buzzard at close proximity along the route on the canal.
