Interesting to compare today and yesterday locally. Despite today's peak temperature being lower, I feel distinctly yuckier. A result of higher afternoon humidity? Cumulative heat stress? lack of sleep? Probably a mix. But it shows that the headline temperature only tells part of the story.

I was on a call with DSIT senior officials and heads of arms length bodies yesterday, and one of the experts briefing us was in uniform because London Ambulance had put all reservists on standby. Warnings allow for preparation by responders, as well as reducing harm because people take precautions.
