There I was having a lovely run along the canal in Wiener Neustadt when a bastard wasp or something stung me in the temple. I was trying to find the memorial for the 1916 tornado victims here. Couldn't find it. Instead I learned about austrian after hours pharmacists...

There were a few paths in east London I needed to tie together and link back to home by foot. So I concocted a route between Barking and Bexleyheath. I'd expected it to be a bit boring. It was anything but. I learned that Barking has a hideous history with asbestos. /1

Its almost 10 years since I packed a litter picker and bin bags and headed off solo to the Calais jungle to help sort out the squalid conditions there. For a few years I went back and forth every few weeks until health forced a stop. Demonisation of refugees is now main stream.

Here in east #Dorset, my own data shows the mean summer temperature was slightly higher in 2018 than 2025. Official data confirms just how warm summer 2025 has been, over the vast majority of the UK. #weather #ukweather #meteorology

Almost a yr on from SouthWestWater's prolonged period of sewage spillage here in Exmouth which caused widespread significant problems/impacts + during peak tourist season, yet another incident has led to closure of our beautiful beach..this time ammonia detected in the water 🤬²

A very short sad story about a neighbours phone. It got ran over while they were out. I put it in a box of sand on concrete so the Li Ion battery wouldn't cause a fire. A fox took umbrage. It moved the box. Then pooed on it. Don't think the phone is repairable.

We bunked off jobs to do the next bit of our #EnglandCoastPath walk. Higham (ok not on the coast, but on a disused #UKCanals instead to the QE2 Bridge. The Thames and Medway canal turned out to be a delight. I love the history behind these waterways.

A waterways walk today! Along the young River Loddon which starts below Basingstoke. Its one of Hampshires rare and incredibly important chalk streams. It doesn't start out spectacularly. In fact much of it is piped below the town. /thread
