There has been a war for a while now from the tech companies as they try to reshape the internet into 1 of 3 forms of exploited capital - land (metaverse), commodities (crypto/nft), & “labor” (AI).

I love how I can tell my parents multiple times about the new D-line stops in LA and they are like “meh, whatever, our daughter is ranting again” And then i read them a quote from LA Times about how you can now get from Union Station to Beverly Hills in 21 mins and it blows their minds.

Empathy has been horribly co-opted in recent years by some of the worst people, but i genuinely believe that empathy starts with a curiosity in the world around you and a willingness to interact with it with kindness and some wonder.

This makes me think of the stories my mom tells me of the dudes in her meditation class who will interrupt the lecture to demand direct answers, all so they can race to the certificate, so they can become “teachers” themselves. They miss the point entirely and the whole class suffers.
