New to me: Can lip-syncing on German pop TV in summer 1976. The dancing is a bit shonky & there's not enough on-screen Holger, but Karoli's presence (he missed their only TOTP performance), along with the last-minute cameo by a low-flying wig & the fact that this clip exists at all, makes up for it.

I taped this off the telly at the time and played it to death. Top notch quality footage of the DKs at their live peak, broadcast by the fledgling C4 back when it wasn't a complete shock to see this sort of thing on yer TV, just an exciting treat...

This afternoon's chazza booty: £1.99. I definitely wasn't expecting to ever see a copy of this in the 7" rack at my local Oxfam. I first heard it on (& taped it off) Peel's show in the early '90s & have never forgotten it but I'd never seen a copy for sale before until today. Miracles take longer!

Roger B left us 20 years ago today, aged 60. I've always liked this informal photograph of him, pictured in 1978 or thereabouts - though I've no idea what the circumstances surrounding it were (perhaps @scribblerrob.bsky.social can shed a little light on it)? Shine on, and on (and so on).

I saw this for the first time last night - new to me but it turned out to be a top notch Wim Wenders styled (dark) comedy-thriller located in America's backwaters with a terrific performance from Geraldine Chaplin (and Tony Perkins in a non-loony role too). I heard this while I was out record shopping this afternoon and had to sidle up to the counter and ask what it was - I honestly can't remember the last time I did that.

COVID again... 3rd time unlucky. Which means plenty of time for tea, legal (meh) drugs, and catching up with records I've bought this year that I haven't had time to listen to. Head still banging too much to read though. And if I ever find out who's given it to me they're dead-o.

Back here again: old, broke, and driven by a raging thirst for tea. ('50s paperback edition not mine unfortunately.)

A blast from my post-punk past. This stuff was tagged as goth later on but, like early Sisters, it wasn't then and it isn't now (& neither was/am I). I sold my 1st copy years ago 'cause I'm a clown but recently picked up another c/o Ebay - this one'll go in the coffin with me. Red Rhino 12", 1984.

The first time I heard this was c/o a bootleg cassette a friend dubbed for me in the '80s and it was mislabeled as "Who Do You Think You're Feeling?" which seems wryly appropriate.

Beatnik newsflash. Forgotten Nico-era V.U. live footage discovered in San Fran television archive. Only a minute or so but (eek) it's in full colour. Reportedly the whole thing is going to be released in a few days' time...

19 minutes on the Beeb with Damo - rec. 20th February 1973. Originally titled "Spare A Light?" until Peel set a comp on his show for a listener to (re)name it - the winner received a copy of the Ege Bam Yasi LP (see BTL comments). p.s. Jaki's on fire on this one!

From NME, May 1981. Initial reaction being: "Who the f*ck were Wild Horses?" n.b. Undertones raking it in at a whopping £3.50!

Midnight trawling for something to wriggle to led me to this ace low-key set by French vinyl-tickler Sibil who, I admit, I'd never heard of before. Her folks pop up at the end which is just perfect somehow - dad looks like he would've preferred to wait in the car but mum's obviously a closet raver.
