I think my biggest enemy to self-improvement is not being confident enough to share bad art. One thing AI has done is convince me that even the worst art I make still clears the bar for sharing because I sat down and actually made it.

Been working on some retro computer interfaces this week! I love blender so much, I could spend all day doing it (and I do!). Been working on a new project as a break from the slog that is optimizing an open-world game. This is a short sci-fi story about a lonely trip #Blender #indiegames #gamedev

Sometimes when I'm modeling in Blender I switch to orthographic mode and I have a flash of "what if I made my own The Sims?" I have no passion or drive to make The Sims, but seeing all my little objects in isometric gives me this little pang of like "but I could model so many cool little things..."

Getting a feel for the telezoom lens I got on friday. Also learning rawtherapee, and trying out photos in that instead of using darktable for everything. It's a lot faster in terms of getting me a decent pic from raw, but I haven't quite got the noise reduction dialed in compared to darktable.

At my old job I wrote a lot of official documents for public consumption, and there were a lot of professional standards about how to document and plan your work. It led to a situation where planning was so formulized - mostly to make it easy to review against the standards - that it wasn't useful

Did some profiling in Unreal for some in-world UI widgets in my game, and found out that setting rotation angle in a widget is about 2/3 the cost of rotating the UVs in a material but the cost of both is so minimal that honestly it feels like a waste of energy to have an opinion on this at all.

I think my biggest beef with "read the documentation" type guys is that many of them don't realize how bad their docs are now. People like to assume all the knowledge they built over the years is easy to acquire if someone were to just put the effort in, but don't want to be the one to pass it on.

Made some apple butter this weekend with 1/4 the sugar all of the recipes I saw called for and it came out perfectly. The 1/4 sugar version is more-tart, and still very sweet. I wonder if every site just copies the same food wishes recipe or w/e, or if everyone does actually like it that sweet.
