I work with the best people. I get Adobe stuff through work, I otherwise would not pay for it myself, so it's a nice perk and I do need Photoshop and a couple others for work. What I don't need for work? Substance Painter, but I was just given a license anyway because apparently we had some unused.

Today in my Blender learning journey, I figure out how to make VDM brushes from existing models. So I'm making some brushes using (public domain/CC0) 3d scans of fossils from museums. These are the first couple.

Animation test for some moths I'll be adding to my animation project. All I really animated was the wing flapping, the rest was done by a boid particle system in Blender. I don't even pretend to understand the math for particle systems, I just messed around with the settings until it looked right.

I've pretty much lost the last 3 weeks to having bronchitis. The last time it last nearly a month. Most of the time my asthma isn't an issue, until I get any respiratory infection then this bullshit happens. At least I've continued my no COVID streak, tested negative for that.

Transferred a drawing I did of a raven to a gessoed hardboard panel. I'm actually going to use my oil paints. I got them months ago and have just been too intimidated to do much with them.

One of my friends was kind enough to take me to the hardware store today so I could get some MDF and now I have the linoleum for linocuts mounted, including the one I already did. Now I can do some carving and printing.

The way you become a good artist is by making a lot of bad art. Talent doesn't exist, it's just the willingness to keep making art even when you suck because you know that eventually you won't.

I think the biggest downside to my current digital art process is that for full paintings I'm jumping between multiple apps. I'll do my sketching and other prelim work in Procreate then export a PSD to work on it in Krita or Artstudio Pro (and if the later I might export again to finish in Krita)
